The Museum
is located in a Renaissance house, with half-timbered facade and bow-window,
which was built in 1590. In the reception
a painted ceiling from the 16. century has been restored.
The collections are devoted
to 4 subjects :
- the alsatian rural judaism, with
all liturgical accessories ; in the
cellar remains the ritual bath (miqweh)from the 18. century,
- the daily life, with fully
equipped and furnished rooms : kitchen, living room, linen room, dairy cellar
(with press and still)
- cakmoulds in enamelled
earthenware, moulds for chocolate and marzipan, irons for doughnuts, waffles,
hosts
- craftsmen activities : the smith
and blacksmith, the stonecutter, the cooper, the potter...
